Got Jesus?
I believe that one of the eventualities of talking about Jesus on the internet is that people will inevitably stumble upon the page who are curious about Jesus. If you’ve been reading the words on the blog, then the Holy Spirit has no doubt impressed upon you the truth of the scriptures presented there, and the need for Jesus in your life.
You may be asking yourself any of the following questions:
“How do I accept Jesus into my life?”
“Why do I need Jesus?”
“How do I become a Christian?”
“How do I get saved?”
Did you know that you don’t have to be in a church or at an alter to get saved? You can do it from where ever you are right now. You can do it in your comfy computer chair, or on your knees in the living room. You can do it by yourself, or in a group of people. Here’s what the scripture tells us about how to be saved:
Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” It doesn’t matter if you’re a good person, a great father, a wonderful friend, or a respectful and obedient teenager….you’ve still fallen short of the Glory of God and committed sins in your life.
Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates his love for us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Through Jesus, God gave us a way to be saved from our sins. His love for us was so great that He offered is only son as a sacrifice for us.
Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Because you’re a sinner, like every other human being ever to walk the Earth except for Jesus, you have earned an eternal punishment in hell. However, God has given us a free gift called salvation, which means that we can be saved from our punishment through Jesus Christ and live forever in Heaven with God.
Romans 10:9-10 says “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” There are two important parts to this scripture: First, you have to say with your mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of your life. Second, you have to believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead. You see, God had his son Jesus killed on the cross as a punishment for your sins, even though Jesus had done nothing wrong, and then raised him from the dead. Because Jesus took the punishment for your sin, you no longer have to go to hell and be punished. If you believe that with your heart, you can be saved.
If you’re ready to be saved from your sins so that you can spend eternity in heaven rather than hell, it’s time to pray a prayer. This is not a fancy ritual that can save you in and of itself. It’s a decision and a step of faith. Take this extremely seriously. Are you ready?
Pray this prayer:
“Father, I know that I have sinned in my life. I know that my sins have separated me from you, and that my punishment is an eternity in hell. I am truly sorry, and I seriously want to turn away from my past sins and live a new life of faith. Please forgive me, and help me to keep from sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, and is alive right now. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, and to reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey your commands, and do your will in my life. I believe that my sins are forgiven because of the blood of Jesus, and I am truly grateful. Amen.”
